Scope
This notice describes ScaleWiki at scalewiki.co.uk and its Netlify-hosted alias. You can read articles and use the interactive tools without creating an account. Contact the publisher through the contact form about this notice or a data request.
Reading and using tools
The capacity lab and teaching simulations run in your browser. The lab does not submit your assumptions to a server. Avoid entering confidential workload details into shared computers or sharing them in screenshots. This release does not load Google Analytics, AdSense ad-serving scripts or other advertising trackers.
A prior version stored a cookie-consent preference in browser local storage. That old preference is no longer used to enable advertising. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.
Hosting and contact messages
Netlify hosts the website and processes ordinary request information, which can include IP address, browser information, requested URLs and security logs, to deliver and protect the service. See Netlify’s privacy notice for its practices.
If you submit the contact form, the name, email address, subject and message you enter are sent to Netlify Forms for the publisher to review and respond to. We use the message to handle your request. Do not include passwords, payment details, confidential logs or other sensitive information.
Google advertising and ad technology
Advertising is disabled in this release. ScaleWiki does not load Google AdSense ad-serving code or other advertising trackers. The public publisher identifier and ads.txt file are verification and authorisation records; they do not serve ads or set advertising cookies.
If advertising is enabled in a future release, Google and any selected ad technology partners may receive information from the browser when an ad request runs. This can include the page URL, IP address or general location, cookie or other browser identifiers, and information about whether an ad was shown or interacted with. Depending on a visitor’s settings and the consent choices available in their region, these technologies may be used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalise ads based on visits to this or other sites. Read how Google uses information from partner sites and apps and manage Google ad personalisation in My Ad Center.
Before ads are activated, this notice and the site’s controls must match the actual ad technology partners and data use. Google currently requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework when serving personalised ads to visitors in the UK, EEA or Switzerland. See Google’s consent management requirements for publishers. No ad requests are made by this release.
Retention and requests
Contact messages should be retained only for as long as needed to handle the request and any applicable record-keeping obligations. Hosting providers may retain operational records under their own policies. Use the contact form to ask about information associated with a message, request correction or deletion, or raise an objection. The rights available to you depend on applicable law; identity or request details may be needed to locate the relevant record.
External links and security
Following a source link takes you to a separate provider with its own privacy practices. ScaleWiki uses HTTPS, but no online transmission is risk-free. This site has no public comment or newsletter service. Changes to the practices described here will be reflected in the date and text of this notice.
